Ms. Deborah Cuny
Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Justice Coach

Coach Deborah Cuny aka "Coach C." joined the Glenview community in 2015. Her education includes a B.A. in English and a Masters of Divinity. She brings a wealth of experience to our community. Coach Deborah Cuny has served as a chaplain in multiple hospitals and prisons, and she has worked with Project Homelessness. She is honored and grateful to support the students, staff, and parents at Glenview. She loves finding ways to honor the students' dignity and worth. 

Coach Deborah Cuny loves to dance, cook and eat good food! She is interested in issues related to race, gender, sexuality, and justice. She hopes to one day travel to Israel to visit friends and historical sites that hold deep meaning to her spiritual journey.

You can always stop by and visit her and see if you can locate her favorite children's book, Ramona Quinby Age 8!

Ms. Melissa Leung

This is Ms. Leung's third year at Glenview. She enjoys how students come to school excited to learn from teachers and others. 

Outside of Glenview she likes to play table tennis, cooking and making duct tape wallets.

Ms. Kally Price

Ms. Kally Price is the school nurse at Glenview Elementary.  She loves hiking, being a mother and a singer/bandleader of old blues, jazz and gospel.  She is happy to support your children and would like parents to feel free to come to her with any student health concerns (esp. if medications are needed in school).

Ms. Mei Tan
Resource Program

She likes how nice the school is and thinks the teachers and kids are great. She has been at Glenview for 10 years. 

When she is not working with kids, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Ms. Eleni Hub
Academic Mentor

Ms. Hub has a BA from Boston College and a Certificate of Administration and Management from Harvard Extension School. 

Ms. Hub worked for an adoption agency in East Oakland for seven years prior to coming to Glenview. She began working at Glenview in 2015 and works as an academic mentor and an aide in K-5, as well as working with the LLI reading program. She loves getting to the know the kids and learning and laughing with them! 

Ms. Hub has been with the Glenview community as a parent from 2002-2015! She is proud to work at the school her children attended. Her favorite children's book is by Dr. Seuss, What Was I Scared Of? and her personal favorite is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, and spending time with her children and two dogs. She dreams of traveling with her family to Greece, Spain and England!

Ms. Taggylee Bowers
Resource Teacher

Ms. Bowers has been teaching in Oakland since 2001 and started at Glenview in 2013. She studied Literature at UC Santa Cruz and at the University of Birmingham in England, then earned her teaching credential at San Francisco State.

Ms. Bowers loves that every day is different and the "lightbulb" moments that students have when learning clicks. 

When she is not teaching, Ms. Bowers enjoys dancing, attending the ballet, visiting national parks, collecting pressed pennies, and volunteering at the Cat Town Cafe. Her favorite children's books are The Velveteen Rabbit and Where The Wild Things Are. She hopes to one day visit Madagascar to see wild lemurs!

Fun Facts:
Ms. Bowers has been to 31 national parks and has about 1,000 pressed pennies in her collection!!!!

Ms. Yve Saville
Reading Intervention Coordinator

Ms. Saville began working at Glenview in 2015. As the Reading Intervention Coordinator, she implements OUSD’s newest reading intervention program. She has her Masters in Elementary Education from San Francisco State University.Ms. Saville formerly taught 4th and 5th grade in SFUSD and in Oakland charter schools and worked for Reading Partners, a non-profit literacy organization. 

Ms. Saville enjoys working directly with small groups of students and helps teachers and aids to work with small groups of students who need a little extra support with reading. She loves watching them learn and grow as readers!

Ms. Saville's interests include spending time outside, cooking, and being with her family. And, her two children attend Glenview! Her favorite book is A House in the Woods by Inga Moore. She hopes to one day take her family on safari in Africa. 

Ms. Erica Donnell
Noon Duty Supervisor

Ms. Erica, as the kids call her, loves the children, teachers and staff. She loves how Glenview is a family oriented environment. She also loves the PTA, because our funds allow her to work here. In her spare time, she is very active with her church and sings in their choir as well as working with the church's youth group. She also likes to see her friends on the weekends and enjoys girl's night out!

Ms. Chrystia Cabral
Technology and Garden Teacher (STIP)

Chrystia Cabral has been living in the East Bay and working as an educator / artist for the past 6 years. Before joining the Glenview community, she worked as a teacher at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay and as Mentor Coordinator at the YMCA Teen Center in Berkeley. She has a degree in English Literature and UC Berkeley and plans to pursue her teaching credential in the near future. She is a music lover and is excited to integrate the joy of music into her gardening and technology lessons. Ms. Cabral loves the laughter of her students!

Ms. Jean Zika
Speech Pathologist

Ms. Zika enjoys the sense of community at Glenview as well as the diversity of its student population. She also appreciates the congeniality of the staff and the attitude towards special education. She began working at Glenview in 2011.  

Ms. Zika received both her bachelor's and masters from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling and cooking. Her dream vacation would be a trip to Italy! 

Ms. Zika has a deep connection with Glenview. She bought her first house in the neighborhood in 1982 and attended Jazzercise every Saturday morning in the Glenview Auditorium. Her first child also tutored for Ms. Anderson's class after school when she was in high school. 

Ms. Jennifer Mitchell
Nutrition Services Manager

Ms. Jennifer is born and raised in Oakland and a graduate of Oakland Public Schools. She enjoys taking walks with her dog, Honey and spending time with two children who also attend Oakland Schools.  She loves how family oriented Glenview is and how sweet and friendly our students are.

Ms. Renata Doakes

Ms. Doakes has worked in the Oakland Unified for nine years and also has many years of experience working in the health care industry. She is a proud graduate of Oakland Unified School District's Lafayete Elementary School, Lowell Jr. High School, McClymonds High School, as well as Merritt College. When not keeping Glenview beautiful, Ms. Doakes enjoys sports, cooking, playing chess, and spending time with her two daughters, six grandchildren, and five great grand-children.

Mr. Brown

Glenview's School Site Council Rep for classified employees.  He has at worked for Glenview for 8 years and he enjoys the diversity the most. 

Mr. Brown is a product of Oakland Public schools. 

He enjoys spending time with his family outside of work.

Ms. Eva loves teaching at Glenview, because she enjoys working with all of the kids.
