Ms. Taggylee Bowers
Resource Program Specialist Ms. Bowers has been teaching in Oakland since 2001 and started at Glenview in 2013. She studied Literature at UC Santa Cruz and at the University of Birmingham in England, then earned her teaching credential at San Francisco State. Ms. Bowers loves that every day is different and the "lightbulb" moments that students have when learning clicks. When she is not teaching, Ms. Bowers enjoys dancing, attending the ballet, visiting national parks, collecting pressed pennies, and volunteering at the Cat Town Cafe. Her favorite children's books are The Velveteen Rabbit and Where The Wild Things Are. She hopes to one day visit Madagascar to see wild lemurs! Fun Facts: Ms. Bowers has been to 31 national parks and has about 1,000 pressed pennies in her collection!!!! |
Ms. Mei Tan
Resource Aide Ms. Mei Tan began working at Glenview in 2005. She worked for seven years with Adventure Time and is now working as an aide in the resource room. Her favorite subject to teach is math, and she loves seeing the smiling faces of Glenview kids! Her hobbies include reading, watching TV and swimming, and her favorite book is Stone Soup by Ann McGovern. |
Ms. Jean Zika
Speech/Language Pathologist Ms. Zika enjoys the sense of community at Glenview as well as the diversity of its student population. She also appreciates the congeniality of the staff and the attitude towards special education. She began working at Glenview in 2011. Ms. Zika received both her bachelor's and masters from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. In her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling and cooking. Her dream vacation would be a trip to Italy! Ms. Zika has a deep connection with Glenview. She bought her first house in the neighborhood in 1982 and attended Jazzercise every Saturday morning in the Glenview Auditorium. Her first child also tutored for Ms. Anderson's class after school when she was in high school. |
