The Glenview Elementary PTA is an active volunteer organization committed to supporting students and teachers by enriching the academics, promoting a safe and clean learning environment, and welcoming, respecting, and engaging all families in the school community. We value diversity and inclusion.
In May 2021, the PTA adopted this resolution:
As Glenview’s PTA, we are committed to creating an equitable school environment for all families and students who are part of the Glenview community.
We will actively pursue diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of our activities and committee work, to include budgeting and use of funds, community building events, the recruitment of the PTA board and PTA members, and advocating for and actively pursuing inclusive student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
In order to step into this reality, the Glenview PTA will be intentional about obtaining equity training, setting up systems to thoughtfully assess progress and outcomes, and inviting community members to offer feedback and insight as together we move forward in this shared vision of a more equitable Glenview.
Over the years, Glenview Elementary PTA membership has grown in significant numbers, and parent involvement is outstanding. The PTA has raised money for the following: reading/math intervention, technology staff/equipment, library books, classroom supplies, teacher aides, school field trips, restorative justice staff, playground support and equipment, Halloween Carnival, Glenview’s Got Talent, Black History Month, Family Pride Day, music program, scholarships to after-school enrichment classes, Glenview Science Fair, and more!
All of this is possible because of parent volunteers and two major fundraisers: the Giving Campaign (Griffin Fund) typically in the fall and the Read-a-Thon typically in the late winter/early spring. Everyone is welcome at all PTA-sponsored activities.
