Bart Alexander

Mr. Alexander taught at Garfield Elementary in Oakland for 13 years and began working at Glenview in 2014. He has a BA in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Oregon and an MA in Elementary Education (2002) from Developmental Teacher Education at the University of California, Berkeley.

Mr. Alexander's favorite aspect of his work is teaching reading and respecting the uniqueness of each individual student. He believes that learning to read and write from the heart gives students the freedom to follow their desires. His goal is to nurture students to be independent, responsible, and caring. Mr. Alexander is a constructivist at heart. "Each child makes his/her own meaning of the world. I am a guide to help their journey."

Mr. Alexander's favorite children's author is Mo Willems. Perhaps you will find the pigeon in his class!

When not at school, you may see Mr. Alexander at Dimond park hiking or playing tennis. He loves to spend time with his family and watch his children, Elijah and Jane, play sports. Mr. Alexander dreams of traveling to watch baseball in all of the ballparks!
